ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It’s a condition that affects how a person focuses, pays attention, controls impulses, and manages energy levels.
Think of your brain has a "control center" that helps you stay organized, focused, and on track.
In people with ADHD, that control center works a little differently.
Do you experience trouble focusing, you're easily distracted by sounds, thoughts or other people, you often start tasks and have a difficult time completing them, or you daydream a lot?
Are you forgetful or disorganized, often forgetting things like your phone, keys or homework; constantly missing deadlines or appointments,; you have a messy desk, room or schedule?
Do you act on impulse, sometimes say things without thinking, interrupt or talk over people, or do risky things without thinking through the consequences?
Are you restless or have high energy (in some cases), have the feeling that you always have to be moving, feel comfort in fidgeting, tapping or being out of your seat.
It's very important to remember that ADHD is not laziness or carelessness, it's a very real brain -based condition. It is also not always loud or hyper - some individuals with ADHD are very quiet and struggle with focus silently.
I will help you to understand that ADHD isn’t about being lazy or broken—it’s just a different way of thinking. I'll explain:
It’s about understanding yourself, not blaming yourself, and having a lot of self compassion.
We will work on real-life skills to help you manage everyday tasks.
We will discuss how to cope with the various emotions experienced.
Sometimes ADHD makes it hard to:
We can work together to build better communication skills and navigate relationships more confidently.
Simply having a place to say, “This is hard,” without judgment is huge. I will help you sort through overwhelm, guilt, or pressure and remind you: you’re not alone in this.
